Dumraon (Buxar):In a significant step towards preserving India’s rich classical music heritage, a Bismillah Khan Music College is set to be established in Dumraon, the birthplace of the legendary shehnai maestro Ustad Bismillah Khan, in Buxar district. The proposed institution aims to promote Indian classical music and provide structured training to young talents from Bihar and across the country.The music college will focus on teaching classical instruments, vocal music, and research related to Indian musical traditions, with special emphasis on the life, works, and legacy of Ustad Bismillah Khan. Cultural experts believe that setting up the college in Dumraon will give national and international recognition to the town’s historic contribution to Indian music.
Noted writer and researcher Murli Manohar Srivastava, who has been dedicatedly working on the life and musical journey of Ustad Bismillah Khan for the past 35 years, has welcomed the initiative.
