KOTA:. Dr. Deepak Kumar Shrivastava, Nodal Officer (Public Libraries-Kota Division), Divisional Librarian, and Head of the Government Divisional Public Library Kota, recently participated Virtually as a member panelist in a meeting organized by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in New Delhi. The meeting focused on revising the Indian Standard IS 15339:2003 titled “Public Library — Guidelines.”
Dr. Shrivastava passionately advocated for the inclusion of services for the visually impaired, proposing the replacement of the term “Blind” with “Visually Impaired.” He also emphasized the need to incorporate assistive technologies and requested the addition of “Divisional Librarian and Divisional Library authority” roles in the revised standards. Dr. Shrivastava’s contributions highlight the importance of modernizing library services to be more inclusive and supportive of all community members.
