Legal awareness program held on Dumraon court premises; panel advocate outlines women’s legal rights
Dumraon: Under the aegis of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Buxar, a legal awareness program on the prevention of sexual harassment at the workplace and women’s rights was organized on the premises of the Sub-Divisional Civil Court, Dumraon. The event was conducted under the direction of District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairperson of DLSA Buxar, Kajal Jhab, and Sub-Judge-cum-Secretary Neha Dayal.
During the program, DLSA panel advocate Manoj Kumar Srivastava and Para Legal Volunteer (PLV) Anisha Bharti briefed the attending judicial officers, court staff, advocates, and members of the public on legal provisions concerning sexual harassment at the workplace.
Addressing the gathering, panel advocate Manoj Kumar Srivastava emphasized that every workplace must be safe, respectful, and dignified. He explained in detail the various forms of sexual harassment faced by women at the workplace, the complaint filing procedure, and the legal remedies available. He stressed that indecorous remarks, unwelcome behavior, inappropriate touch, or any other offensive conduct against women should never be overlooked, urging victims to know their rights and approach the appropriate forum to register a complaint.
He further noted that providing a safe working environment for women is not merely the employer’s obligation, but a collective responsibility of every individual. He added that widespread awareness and knowledge of the law are key to cultivating an atmosphere of safety and mutual respect at the workplace.
The event was attended by Sub-Judge-1 Kiran Ojha, Sub-Judge-3 Vineet Kumar Singh, Sub-Judge-4 Praduman Kumar, and Munsif Prateek Mishra. Advocates Murli Manohar Singh, Sadan Pandey, Dhanik Singh, and Kiran Singh were also present, alongside court staff including Mukesh Kumar (Sheristadar), Ravi Kumar, Aditya Kumar, Abhishek Kumar, Bhola Prasad, and Raju Bakshi, as well as several local citizens.
Concluding the session, participants appreciated the initiative taken by the District Legal Services Authority, noting that such awareness programs play a pivotal role in disseminating legal literacy and safeguarding the rights and dignity of women in society.
