Buxar : National Lok Adalat Settles 1,607 Cases

The third and important National Lok Adalat of the year was successfully concluded on Saturday. A total of 1,607 cases were disposed of, with a settlement amount of ₹9,81,87,527 agreed upon by the parties.
The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. The lamp was jointly lit by District and Additional Sessions Judge-II Manish Kumar Shukla, District Magistrate Mrs. Sahila, Deputy Superintendent of Police Gaurav Pandey, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority Neha Dayal, Bar Association President Advocate Baban Ojha, and General Secretary Bindeshwari Prasad Pandey.
Addressing the gathering, District and Additional Sessions Judge-II Manish Kumar Shukla said that the National Lok Adalat is one of the simplest ways to resolve cases in a single day. The District Magistrate, while explaining the importance of the Lok Adalat, said that resolving cases on the basis of mutual settlement not only reduces the burden on courts but also promotes social harmony and tolerance.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Judge-cum-Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Neha Dayal.
Third National Lok Adalat Proves Completely Successful
The third National Lok Adalat of the year proved highly successful, with 1,607 cases being disposed of through mutual settlement.
These included 524 pre-litigation cases related to banks, while 266 certificate cases were also settled. In addition, 271 pending criminal cases, 193 electricity-related cases, 5 cheque-bounce cases, and 28 family-related cases were disposed of.
The success of the third Lok Adalat can also be gauged from the fact that 65 cases pending for more than 10 years were settled amicably by the parties. Eight cases that had been pending for more than two decades were also successfully resolved through mutual consent.
On the occasion, Bihar Gramin Bank Regional Manager Ramesh Kumar, DCO Jitendra Kumar, and Bank of India Senior Branch Manager Roshan Kumar were present.
DCO Jitendra Kumar said that Bihar Gramin Bank reached settlements amounting to approximately ₹1.50 crore. Meanwhile, Bank of India Senior Branch Manager Roshan Kumar said that around 58 cases were settled, involving a settlement amount of approximately ₹87.56 lakh.
10 Benches Constituted for Hearing Cases
To ensure the convenient and smooth disposal of cases, a total of 10 benches were constituted under the direction of Judge-cum-Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Neha Dayal.
Each bench consisted of a judicial officer along with an advocate from the panel of the District Legal Services Authority.
